Frequently Asked Questions

  • Astride Health is holistic and preventive. We work across 6 broad factors that drive long-term health: exercise, diet, medicine & supplements, sleep, stress resilience, and social connection. We believe that if we take care of the 6 factors well, that provides you with a foundation for health today and for decades into the future. Our approach enables you to be at your healthiest today, and to enable you to stay active and vibrant as you age.

  • No. Primary care physicians play an essential role, especially in helping you when you have an immediate health problem. We work closely with your PCP to ensure you get the best care. We also provide a medical advocacy service, helping you to find the best specialists available when you need them.

  • Astride Health is for individuals who strive to be the healthiest they can be today and also want to maintain high energy as they age. It also requires work on your part – this is not a magic pill or a massage. Exercise, a proper diet, and, yes, getting a great night’s sleep are critical parts of what we help you do well. We have Members who come to Astride because they feel they don’t have quite the energy they had years ago, or they have high energy today and want to maintain it as they age. We also have Members who have become frustrated with the state of medical care in the US today, where it feels like it’s challenging to get a straight answer and to find the proper support.

  • We have expertise in supporting women through perimenopause and menopause, including hormone replacement therapy as well as other holistic approaches to supporting women’s health.

  • Your health insurance may cover some of our services, but we do not process payments through insurance providers.

  • Yes, but why would you stop an investment in your health?

  • Our Core Membership costs $2,400 per quarter. Membership includes all of your initial assessments, quarterly reviews with your Astride MD, quarterly reviews with our PhD Exercise Physiologist, and a Whoop 5.0 band included in the program. It also includes retesting many of the assessments as we work through the year. Additionally, there are different levels of exercise support that you can choose, starting at $60 per week.

  • Of course. Contact us to schedule a meeting with a member of our team.

  • The first month is busy! Initially, we conduct a thorough and confidential interview to gather your health history. Each Member then undergoes an annual assessment that includes thorough bloodwork, a VO2 Max (cardiovascular capacity) test, a DEXA (body composition) scan, and a Strength & Mobility assessment. After the evaluations, you will sit down with your dedicated Astride MD to review the assessments and cover our recommendations. Then the work begins – our Exercise Physiologist and a training Coach create a customized fitness plan tailored to your health, and we work closely with you as you execute the plan. The plan is updated bi-weekly after a check-in with your Coach. You meet quarterly with the MD and will do further assessments as needed to check your progress on key clinical metrics. You will also have a concierge dedicated to supporting you, whether that involves setting up appointments, or answering any questions you may have. Through all of this, you are talking with humans who have the time to care for you, and you always have access to the same experts to guide your progress.

  • Easy – that’s a yes.

  • No. We will help you find a location to do your assessments remotely, and fitness training can be done 100% remotely. If you live outside the US, you do need to come to the US for assessments, however.

  • All members undergo our core assessments, which include thorough bloodwork, a VO2 Max (cardiovascular capacity) test, a DEXA (body composition) scan, a Strength & Mobility evaluation, and assessments to measure stress resilience and social connection. Those assessments are repeated at different intervals to track progress. We also provide a Whoop 5.0 band as part of the membership, and it syncs with our HIPAA compliant database, so your MD can use that data to help guide you. Finally, we coordinate additional evaluations that might be relevant for you, such as continuous glucose monitoring, Prenuvo MRI, or Galleri cancer screening.

  • The most crucial datapoint is how you feel, not what a device tells you. That said, we find it helpful at times to use wearable devices, and we have tried almost everything on the market. We like the Whoop 5.0 band for its ability to track both sleep and physical effort.

  • Most of us aren’t! Our program is not exclusive to elite athletes. It’s a service for individuals who recognize the importance of their health and seek a comprehensive solution to help them stay energetic today and remain strong for decades to come.
